Spirituality Defined

The following gives William LePar's source, The Council's, views on spirituality. Hopefully, this information will be useful to you.

The Council: Spirituality. Some of you express an interest in spirituality. Some of you say that you are on a quest for spirituality. Some of you say that you wish to be spiritual. But what is spirituality and how do we attain it? It is very simple. It must be simple, it must be very obvious. It must be staring us right back into our faces if we have an All-Loving and Forgiving God, an All-Loving and Forgiving Divine Presence, and since we do, then spirituality is before us. If we cannot see it, if we cannot understand it, if we cannot reach out and bring it into ourselves, it is because we choose to be blind to the love that this Infinite and Divine Presence has for us.

What is spirituality? It should be obvious and yet how very, very few see the obvious. Spirituality is but an attitude, an attitude towards oneself and an attitude towards life or to those around us. How do we attain spirituality? If spirituality is an attitude, then to attain it we simply bring that attitude into us, make it a part of our nature. Not something we talk about, but something that we do something about.

What is this great secret, this attitude, this mystifying miracle maker? It is as simple as this: Do nothing to someone else you would not want done to yourself. That means then you must be caring, you must be loving, you must be honest, you must be faithful, and you must be a responsible individual. That sums up spirituality, yet for as simple as it is, for as obvious as it is, those who choose not to see what lies before them are numbered in the frequency of raindrops hitting the face of the earth in any given storm. Infidelity to oneself translates to infidelity to all other aspects of that individual's life.

The Cayce-LePar Purpose

By Denny J. Highben

“There is seen, there is being laid out plans for a work that as given is to change the thought of mankind in general in many directions.” Edgar Cayce reading 254-37

The Council reinforced many concepts through their years of speaking to physical man through the deep trance communications of William Allen LePar. From the frequent reminder that we are the beloved children of the Divine Creator to the fact that we are much too focused on the material world -- which is an illusion -- this union of 12 evolved souls constantly sought to guide mankind to higher levels of awareness.

One of those concepts: There are no accidents, no coincidences. We can never fully understand how that can be, confined to the limits of our physical consciousness. I guess this is an example of taking something on faith.

An incident that happened to me recently reignited my imagination: Was this a coincidence? Couldn’t be, because I trust The Council… As Bill once noted, more than a million words of dialogue with them and no contradictions… but why now, and what am I supposed to do about it? With it?

I decided the best thing to do with it is share. If you believe there ARE coincidences in life, then this may be just an amusing story. If you believe there are no coincidences, then you may sense a significance in this event.

To appreciate this, some background is in order. I am loath to throw any papers away, for they may hold a thought, a note or a quote that may someday be exactly what I seek. Of course, there are so many containers of disorganized paper that I rarely – RARELY – find just the right piece at just the right time. Right now, I can only think of two incidents where my proclivity of pack-ratting has paid off.  A couple years ago, I “accidentally’ found that I had an old notebook of a SOL Associate. In there was confirmation that The Council used a specific phrase to honor LePar’s ability to maintain a Christ-like attitude at his place of employment, despite the harassment he endured. (The specifics are too long for this space, but the story is explained in chapter 26 of “William Allen LePar, The Spiritual Rosetta Stone for the End of Our Age.”)

The second incident was this summer.

In yet another effort to conquer my lifelong weakness as a packrat, I had attacked a container of papers and files. I dumped the contents of one large envelope onto my desk, and somehow got distracted (again) and never really looked at what those contents were. Turned out it was an envelope of very old materials from the Association for Research and Enlightenment, the non-profit founded by Edgar Cayce. Not sure where it came from or how long it has been in my possession. I was never a member, and until I encountered LePar and The Council I was perfectly content to ignore and occasionally ridicule all things spiritual. My life was fine believing Darwin was right, science is right, and when you die, it is all over. The fat lady has sung.

Thinking back, I have to conclude that these photocopies had been given to me by a SOL Associate who had been a member of ARE, so I could see the similarities between LePar’s situation and that of Cayce.

A few days later, with this pile still in front of me as I worked, I noticed one statement from the Cayce readings that astounded me. It was at the bottom of a flyer copyrighted in 1971: “There is seen, there is being laid out plans for a work that as given is to change the thought of mankind in general in many directions.”

It seemed like a double whammy. The quote came from Cayce’s source in May 1944, when LePar was a little boy growing up in Canton, Ohio. The copyright date, 1971, was a year before the deep trance phenomenon first overwhelmed LePar. I quickly contacted SOL and requested any comment from LePar’s source, The Council, on Egar Cayce. On September 19, 1987, The Council opened the 149th trance this way:

The Council: “A number of you have found an interest in the Cayce experience. And some of you have wondered if there was a connecting link between that particular experience in time and this one. Yes, there is.

“At that time, the world on a broader scale had to be made aware of influences beyond the physical form or the earthly manifestation. To do so, it had to deal with individuals as such to bring a greater validity to the fact that your physical world exists within the real world or the real creation which is the spiritual plane. …

“The Cayce experience fulfilled its time in allowing the world on a greater scale than has been understood or has been touched before that when the soul passes from the physical plane to the spiritual plane, it is still alive and well, that some entities, some souls, some creations of God, are still interested in the physical plane to the degree that they are willing to communicate with that plane, with those individuals who are still entrapped in the physical world.

“What is the purpose of these experiences then? The purpose is to take the Cayce experience one step higher. The world as a whole knows that there is an existence after the experience called death. Now the time has come to bring a general element to the information or the guidance from the heavenly realms. Instead of dealing with individuals, this experience deals with general conditions, and because of this, because of the nature of the information and its purpose, its intention, all questions answered are answered in a general form so that they are useful not only to you who may ask it but to all of those who are here and all of those who will not be fortunate enough ever to experience something such as this.”

The “general element” which The Council has added to mankind’s awareness of spiritual reality is profound in its breadth, depth and value. Looking at the world as it is, The Council’s intervention is certainly no accident, no coincidence.
